ABOUT ME

My name is Sofia Ribeiro, but in the artistic world I go by System Sophie. This project emerged from a deep curiosity to explore sound and the expressive potential of electronic instruments especially synthesizers. My artistic practice is rooted in experimentation, using analog and virtual synths, recordings, and generative tools to create immersive soundscapes that merge ambient, experimental, drone, and generative music. My goal is to craft unique auditory experiences that reflect moods, internal states, and personal narratives. Over the years, I have taken part in various collaborative projects, such as Durum X9 (electronic improvisation) and Sniel System (experimental techno), in collaboration with Joao Araujo (aka Sniel). I am also a co founder of the Umer collective, alongside other Guimaraes based artists, and a co founder and performer in Hardware Live, a project dedicated to experimental techno improvisation in club contexts. My music is a constant search for new ways of expressing emotion and energy. Each project is a new opportunity to expand the boundaries of electronic music and to forge a visceral, singular connection with the audience
